U.S. to beef up missile defense against North Korea, Iran (or not (maybe))

Posted by on 16. March 2013

This is ridiculous:

The United States will deploy additional ground-based missile interceptors on the West Coast as part of efforts to enhance the nation’s ability to defend itself from attack by North Korea, Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel announced Friday.

Still relatively new in his post, the Pentagon chief told reporters that 14 additional interceptors to be installed by 2017 would bring the total to 44. It is part of a package of steps expected to cost $1 billion, officials said.

“The reason that we are doing what we are doing and the reason we are advancing our program here for homeland security is to not take any chances, is to stay ahead of the threat and to assure any contingency,” Hagel said.

Even if this crap was to work, which it doesn’t, getting it installed in FOUR FREAKING YEARS MAYBE is hardly a solution to any problem occurring today.

Why this administration is not being called out on this is beyond me.  If you really think that the DPRK is that much of a threat, putting a non-working missile thing in the ground in Alaska four years from now is not much of a response.  Better you target the Tae Po Dong sites with a cruise missile than that.  Or, is there no real confidence that that will work either.

Hello – just take all the tax money you can find and light it on fire.  There- the smoke cloud has about as much chance of scaring the DPRK than some random construction in the tundra a few years from now.
